Overview:

This focus area tackles the severe lack of basic healthcare, hygienic infrastructure, and nutritional well-being in remote silt islands and impoverished rural communities.

Core Objectives:

To secure community access to primary healthcare, advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), reduce infant and maternal mortality, and ensure universal access to safe water and sanitation.

Key Interventions & Activities:

  • Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Installing arsenic-tested deep tube-wells, constructing raised, flood-friendly hygienic latrines, and promoting low-cost handwashing systems (such as tippy-taps) across flood-prone chars.
  • Maternal & Child Health & Nutrition: Delivering courtyard health education, promoting vitamin-A-rich vegetable intake, screening children under five, and providing maternal nutrition counseling to prevent stunting and wasting.
  • Adolescent Reproductive Health (SRHR): Organizing adolescent Kishori Groups to conduct peer education on menstrual hygiene, reproductive rights, and delaying pregnancy.
  • Community Health Mobilization: Conducting door-to-door counseling, school-based hygiene sessions, and coordination with government community clinics to ensure emergency medical access during disasters.
